The World's Best.๐ India's Official Pathway + 4 Olympiads Abroad
Structured coaching for India's IOQP pathway โ NSEP, INPhO, OCSC and the IPhO team selection โ alongside F=ma/USAPhO, the British Physics Olympiad, the Asian Physics Olympiad and the European Physics Olympiad. Mechanics-first, IIT-alumni mentored, batches capped at 12.
Trusted by 150+ families across Pune
More than a competition โ a different level of physics.
Problem-solving depth JEE alone doesn't build
Olympiad physics rewards multi-concept derivation and genuinely unfamiliar problems โ exactly the muscle JEE Advanced and top international admissions test for.
A real signal for competitive admissions
A serious olympiad track record โ Indian or international โ is one of the few things that meaningfully differentiates an application to IITs, Oxbridge and Ivy League programs alike.
Mechanics-first, because every track rewards it
NSEP, F=ma, BPhO, APhO and EuPhO all lean hardest on mechanics โ master it once, and every one of these five tracks gets easier.
IITian mentors who've solved these exact problems
Taught by mentors with real olympiad and JEE coaching depth โ not generalists teaching physics alongside three other subjects.
IOQP โ OCSC โ PDC โ IPhO.
The only route onto India's IPhO team, run jointly by IAPT and HBCSE-TIFR. Exact dates shift every year โ always confirm the current cycle against the official HBCSE/IAPT bulletin.
NSEP
National Standard Examination in PhysicsTypically held in November
Objective-type paper, run by IAPT
Class 11โ12 physics, science up to Class 10, maths up to Class 12 โ the full 19-unit syllabus.
INPhO
Indian National Physics OlympiadTypically held shortly after NSEP
Subjective, derivation-based theory paper, run by HBCSE โ together with NSEP this forms the IOQP (Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Physics)
Deeper, multi-concept problems on the same syllabus โ genuine derivation and non-standard reasoning, not recall.
OCSC
Orientation-cum-Selection CampTypically 3โ4 weeks, mid-year
Residential camp at HBCSE, Mumbai, for roughly the top 35 INPhO scorers
Theory depth plus hands-on experimental physics training, with selection tests throughout the camp.
PDC
Pre-Departure CampShortly before IPhO
Final training for the selected 5-member team
Exam-format drilling and last-mile preparation in the exact IPhO structure.
IPhO
International Physics OlympiadTypically mid-year, host country rotates
5 students + 2 leaders, ~9โ10 days: 5 hours theory, 5 hours experimental
The global finale โ India competes against 90+ countries.
IPhO, plus the four worth attempting from India.
India's own IOQP pathway is the route onto the IPhO team โ alongside it, here's exactly how a serious student from Pune can genuinely engage with F=ma, BPhO, APhO and EuPhO.
IPhO
Grades 11โ12
The pinnacle โ roughly 90+ countries, 5 students each, ~9โ10 days of 5-hour theory and 5-hour experimental papers. India's only route in is the IOQP pipeline: NSEP + INPhO, then OCSC, then the Pre-Departure Camp.
F=ma / USAPhO
Grades 11โ12
The mechanics-only exam that opens the U.S. Physics Team pipeline โ 25 multiple-choice questions in 75 minutes, then top scorers sit the 3-hour free-response USAPhO. Official registration needs a U.S. school or citizenship, so we train in its exact problem style as an internationally benchmarked practice track, not a direct entry point from India.
British Physics Olympiad
Grades 11โ12
The UK's premier physics competition and a genuine Oxbridge admissions signal, run out of the University of Oxford. Questions build on A-Level physics but apply it in unfamiliar, calculus-heavy ways. International/overseas schools register by contacting BPhO directly โ it isn't a self-serve individual signup.
Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO)
Grades 11โ12
A regional feeder for IPhO-level talent across Asia-Pacific โ up to 8 students and 2 leaders per country. Entry is exclusively through each country's own national selection process; there is no individual or independent registration route.
European Physics Olympiad (EuPhO)
Under 21 as of June 30
A fast-growing, IPhO-format competition that welcomes guest teams from outside Europe alongside official European teams โ each country sends one team of up to 5, coordinated nationally rather than through open individual entry.
The five tracks, side by side.
Format, level and โ most importantly โ how a student from India actually gets in.
| Olympiad | Region | Format | Eligibility for Indian Students | Ideal For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| IPhO | Global (90+ countries) | 5 hrs theory + 5 hrs experimental | Via India's own IOQP pipeline only | Students already through India's OCSC selection |
| F=ma / USAPhO | USA (AAPT) | 25 MCQ (75 min) โ free-response USAPhO | U.S. citizens/residents or U.S.-school students only | Benchmarking mechanics, even without eligibility |
| British Physics Olympiad | UK (University of Oxford) | BPhO Round 1 + Round 2 | Overseas schools register directly with BPhO | UK & Ivy League admissions signal |
| Asian Physics Olympiad | Asia-Pacific | Theory + experimental, IPhO-style | Country team only โ no individual entry | Benchmarking against regional talent |
| European Physics Olympiad | Europe + guest teams | IPhO-format theory paper | Guest teams welcome, coordinated nationally, age <21 | The most accessible of the three team-based tracks |
Bonus ยท For the truly advanced
Physics Cup
An online problem set, harder than EuPhO, APhO or even IPhO by design โ the training material serious IPhO medalists use to sharpen further. Genuinely open online entry, no school or federation gatekeeping. Only worth attempting once the five tracks above feel comfortable.
Organized by Jaan Kalda, Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia)
Every topic, cross-referenced to the stage that tests it.
Mechanics dominates every one of these five tracks โ that's exactly why our prep is mechanics-first.
Kinematics, Newtonian mechanics, energy & momentum, rotational dynamics, oscillations, orbital mechanics, fluids.
Tested by: F=ma (exclusively), NSEP/INPhO, BPhO, APhO, EuPhO โ the single most heavily tested topic across every track.
Electrostatics, circuits, magnetic fields, electromagnetic induction, Maxwell's equations at an introductory level.
Tested by: INPhO, USAPhO, BPhO, IPhO โ a core pillar once a student moves past mechanics-only exams like F=ma.
Laws of thermodynamics, kinetic theory, heat engines, entropy.
Tested by: INPhO, USAPhO, BPhO, IPhO.
Wave mechanics, interference, diffraction, geometrical and physical optics.
Tested by: NSEP, INPhO, IPhO.
Photoelectric effect, atomic models, introductory quantum mechanics, wave-particle duality.
Tested by: INPhO, IPhO โ appears from Grade 12-level prep onward.
Special relativity basics, nuclear structure, radioactivity, binding energy.
Tested by: INPhO, IPhO โ typically the last topics introduced in a prep timeline.
Error analysis, graph-fitting, apparatus handling, designing an experiment from scratch.
Tested by: OCSC selection tests, IPhO's dedicated 5-hour experimental paper.
Calculus fundamentals (differentiation, integration), vectors, differential equations at a basic level.
Tested by: Required across every stage โ the toolkit every olympiad above assumes, not a topic tested on its own.
A fixed sequence, because physics olympiad prep isn't random.
Every student moves through the same five stages, in order โ mechanics-first, since every one of these five tracks tests it hardest.
Diagnostic Mechanics Test
A timed mechanics-only mock โ the topic every one of these five olympiads tests hardest โ so we see precisely where your child stands before building a plan.
Concept Foundation
Structured sessions across mechanics, electromagnetism, waves, thermodynamics and modern physics โ deliberately mechanics-first, since NSEP, F=ma and BPhO all lean hardest on it.
Problem-Pattern Drilling
Curated problem sets from past NSEP, INPhO, F=ma and BPhO papers, sorted by technique โ not just topic โ so patterns become instinct.
Weekly Timed Mocks, Real Formats
Full-length mocks administered in the exact format of the target exam โ MCQ for F=ma, subjective derivation for NSEP/INPhO โ with scoring and a rank sheet every week.
Exam-Day Readiness
Speed drills, negative-marking strategy and last-mile revision tuned to the specific olympiad your child is sitting.

The IOQP (Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Physics) โ combining NSEP, run by IAPT, and INPhO, run by HBCSE โ is the only route in. Top INPhO scorers attend HBCSE's OCSC training camp, and the students selected there go through a Pre-Departure Camp before representing India at the IPhO. There is no alternate route onto India's team.
NSEP is the objective-type first stage, run by IAPT and testing the full syllabus at a recall-and-application level. INPhO is the deeper, subjective second stage, run by HBCSE, demanding genuine derivation and non-standard problem-solving on the same syllabus. Together they form the IOQP.
Official F=ma registration requires the student to be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or currently enrolled at a U.S. school โ it is not open to students studying purely in India. We teach the exact F=ma problem style anyway, because it is internationally regarded as the sharpest mechanics benchmark available, and it sharpens mechanics for NSEP/INPhO too.
No, not for APhO โ it is exclusively country-team registration, decided by each nation's own selection process, with no individual entry route at all. EuPhO is more open in spirit โ it accepts guest teams from outside Europe โ but participation is still coordinated at a national level, not a self-serve individual signup. We prepare students in these formats as advanced practice regardless.
The British Physics Olympiad, since international schools can register directly by contacting BPhO โ no national federation gatekeeping. EuPhO's guest-team route is the next most accessible. APhO has no individual path at all, and F=ma/USAPhO is restricted to U.S. citizens, residents or U.S.-school students.
Every student starts with a diagnostic mechanics mock, since mechanics is the topic every one of these tracks tests hardest, then we build a personal preparation plan from where they actually stand โ not a generic syllabus dump.
Grade 9 or 10 gives the most runway to build genuine derivation-level mechanics before NSEP becomes relevant in Grade 11. Students starting in Grade 11 can still make real progress, but with a more compressed, mechanics-first timeline.
Every batch is capped at a maximum of 12 students โ the same limit across every BuzzyBrains Academy program โ so mentors can review each student's derivations individually, not just final answers.
Both. Our Amanora, Hadapsar campus runs live in-person batches with smart digital boards, and the same curriculum is available live online.
